"Oh, the barnyard is busy in a regular tizzy, And the obvious reason is because of the season Ma Nature's lyrical, with her yearly miracle Spring, Spring, Spring."
So fun fact....my absolute favorite movie of all time...the 1954 classic starring Jane Powell and Howard Keel "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". It holds a special place in my heart. My grandmother use to make us watch it all the time and we watched it every Sunday growing up compliments of a few VHS tapes. (totally just dated myself)
But enough about that....according to google and the equinox calendar, yesterday was the FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
Boy am I ready! Here in Utah we will probably still have a couple snow days left here or there but bring on the camping, gardening, tree blossoms, spring cleaning and freshening up the inside of my house.
How do I like to change up for seasons without going crazy? Flora/Fauna and Textiles. It really is the most inexpensive way to bring in the season from the outdoors and freshen things up.
PILLOWS
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: You don't have to spend $100+ on a pillow for your home. That is one thing I do not love about the design industry but there are ways around it. I like to put affordable good base pillows together with a splurge pillow. All of these are $40 or under and would be great for a spring uplift. Switch out your velvets for maybe some linen or woven fabrics that are more appropriate for the season and avoid any pillows that have sparkles, glitter or weird appliques.
WHERE TO BUY: My Favorite places for go to affordable, base pillows are H&M Home, Amazon, Ikea, Etsy, Pottery Barn, Society6, Hackner Home and The Woven Nook. All have really good options for a variety of designer looking pillows for a fraction of the cost.

KITCHEN & DINING LINENS
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Tea towels, hand towels, and dinner napkins are a great way to change things up without breaking the bank. I look for ones that I might be able to use for multiple seasons but it is also a way to have a little more fun with pattern. So shop your preference. As far as dinner napkins I like to look for a good edge like a fringe or nicely hemmed. Also get ones that are about 20x20. Any smaller and you have a hard time doing most folds with your napkins. For tea towels, i know alot of people like to use accent seasonal ones with cute sayings. But honestly, most people only bust those out for their "fake house" or when company is coming over. So get a good 100% cotton tea towels for everyday use that are still pretty and fresh looking. I DESPISE microfiber. They end up looking gross with lint and they feel weird on my hands. Just say NO to microfiber. Haha.
WHERE TO BUY: I like to look at Home Goods, TJ Max, Ross, Target, Amazon, Pottery Barn, H&M, World Market, West Elm and Crate & Barrel. So far they have had reasonable prices and good product. Tea towels are usually really inexpensive wherever you go.
FLORALS, FAUNA & VASES
WHAT TO LOOK FOR: 85% of the time I am a fresh flower girl all the way. Its hard to replicate the same organic beauty in a home. But sometimes it just is not an option or you don't want to deal with the maintenance of them. A few tips from my instagram post yesterday that I shared are: look for good quality. Stems or branches that have a very waxy, shine to them or buds that look paper-like and have no texture will give them away in a heart beat and look cheap. Add a little water and fallen buds to the vase (if it is clear glass) to give it a more realistic look. Vases. Vases are a splurge so definitely make sure the shape, color, and pattern are something you are going to be able to work with in a variety of ways and styles.
WHERE TO BUY: There are some really good quality ones through McGee and Co and the Magnolia line. But I reeeeealllly don't like spending that much on faux stuff. So my go to's are actually Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joann's, Amazon, Target, Pier 1 and Pottery Barn. As far as vases go I like to check out Home Goods, Target (they have definitely upped their game), Amazon, Potter Barn, H & M, Ikea and World Market.
I hope that helps you guys. I don't ever like to hold back where I find good deals. I want to share it with you especially if it makes things easier for you to make your home a little more of a place you love to be. Happy Spring!
