Reveal Day! I've had so much fun doing our laundry closet. I still LOATH laundry but at least my closet make me smile when I force myself to do. In my previous post here I shared my plan and the budget I made for the space. And I love it when a plan comes together!
Recap of the plan from the previous post. It turned out pretty spot on!
Most of the projects that I set a time limit and budget on turn out to be the most rewarding for me. Don't get me wrong, I am a believer in taking your time and finding pieces you love...but a blitz project is also fun to do every once in a while. I set out knowing that I wanted to add something fun and feminine but neutral and soft. And this wallpaper totally achieved that. Also, it is removable which is perfect for our renting situation.
Here is the before.
Super disorganized, dusty catch-all that just always made me cringe when I walked by. I should be embarrassed by this shot and I kinda am. Real life, y'all! But it made for a better transformation. Ha!
Wallpaper for newbies is definitely a two person job. Ryan (my husband) ended up hanging most of it while I measured, sprayed, activated the adhesive by "booking" and dealt with kids in between. Ha! I'm not sure who had the better job? There are tons of tutorials on how to hang pre-pasted wallpaper. Maybe on my next project I'll make a tutorial on how we did it and how not to complicate it.
I wanted to make this space as functional as possible while still hiding all the ugly bits. To start...the baskets on the shelf hold all our household and laundry cleaning supplies. From left to right. The left basket is housing all really large laundry detergents. Second from left is all of the ironing and fabric fresheners. The baskets to the right is all of our cleaning supplies for around the house. These baskets are from IKEA and I already had them on hand.
The little tray, which I also already had, is keeping all of my laundry detergent, softener, stain remover and Borax. I love it when functionality and beauty come together and these jars/bottles do just that.
The little woven basket is for socks. For picture purposes I only have a couple but lets be honest, its pretty full most of the time with lonely socks waiting for their match to come through the laundry.
The laundry basket is from Target and I love the little leather detail and the braided cotton.
The artwork is hiding the plumbing and hoses for our washer.
I have always loved this quote from one of our now past LDS church leader. Just a reminder of how time really does fly and how I might miss my kids being little and living at home. Okay, maybe not laundry specifically but the little clothes that they wear I do get sentimental about giving away their clothes.
If you would like the printable click on it to copy and download. I printed it on regular 11x17 white cardstock and cut it down to fit my mat and frame that I already had on hand. Tag me if you end up using it. I would love to see it in your space!
The little landscape print is from the MET archive of free downloads. I printed it on watercolor paper so it would have a little texture. The Grit and Polish referenced this a few years ago and I love looking through a lot of this to see what I can find. They have selections for every kind of art you can image with free downloads!
